The 23-year-old skier finished 9th after starting in 44th position and confirmed his talent with his first top-10 finish in a World Cup race. Last winter he dominated the Europacup tour but now he aims for more - quite a challenge with this strong Austrian team. Seven Austrians finished among the top-10 in today’s competition won by France’s Antoine Deneriaz, who celebrated his first major success on the circuit. He finished ahead of five Austrian rivals! Buder is already lucky and happy to be able to compete on the World Cup tour. “I have a guaranteed spot in those races thanks to my victory last winter in the Europacup downhill standings, so I don’t feel any pressure for the moment” he said. “I’m still here to get some experience and to learn. I finished 13th in Lake Louise despite a mistake in the last part but only 38th in Val d’Isere a week ago after starting with bib # 1. I wanted to return among the best 15 here and I’m glad to have reached this goal on this difficult course”. “The strong result of Hannes Reichelt in yesterday’s Super-G definitely inspired me today and I had quite a solid run I must say. I skied the technical “Ciaslat turns” much better today than in training. It was the key for this good result. It a good way to celebrate Christmas for me and prepare the next race in Bormio”. “A top-10 result is an important step in a racer’s career. This year, I want to be as consistent as possible to reach the best-15 in the downhill standings at the end of the season. I don’t believe in my chances to compete at the Worlds in St Moritz.” Andreas is the thirteenth skier to become the “winStar of the Race” this season and the second Austrian after Werner Franz in Val d’Isere. Last winter, the “winStar of the Race” award was presented 21 times throughout the season and Ivica Kostelic and Genevieve Simard became the “winStar of the Season” because of their impressive performances with high startnumbers in the first part of the season. Kostelic won it twice and Simard three times.
